I thought that when they said "blowing a raspberry" they meant she coughed and blood came with the cough, but they thought she was faking and using something like raspberry to make it look like proper blood cough? I guess it could be a phrase I don't know about tbf.

I feel like I hear it reasonably often? Not a lot, but enough that I would hardly call it "archaic". I've never heard any other term for it.
