    I think the reason why Hao's version didn't get chosen is because how it depicts Lil'E; it's not 'real' enough, as-in it didn't depict her using the rigging. If you compare the design with all the loliships you can see that even chibified, they all kept their riggings, albeit miniaturized.

    The problem is that this one looks more like a chibi Enterprise than a child Enterprise, given the proportions.
