Rightwing weebs livid at the decades old term "sus" being used in the translation subtitles of Nagatoro's gyaru style speech, and after being criticized by users including black and trans ppl, went on a 18-hour nonstop anti-black and anti-trans rant, with full defense of nazi atrocities and all that, and to this moment is still going. This post is a parody of that thread.

What zero pussy does to a mf smh
So in the end this is about a train wreck on twitter and nothing else. I couldn't care less if someone wants to make a pic about it, but I don't see why it deserves being in the Current Events pool. Train wrecks on twitter happen every day and it's not important.

Twitter nonsense makes it into the pool all the time, though. Several images of Monster Energy dick Astolfo are there(really only need one, not all of them), as well as Uzaki images specifically referencing the few weeks Twitter was on fire over her.

Pictures, memes and a few other things that show up and are worth while I do agree are worth putting in the pool, but flame wars, worthless bickering and the general nastiness of twitter train wrecks I don't see why it needs to reach this pool.

We have back and forths about translation accuracy here too. If not simply whether something is mnagling the meaning, also if such and such a character would use this kind of verbage, or whether it would be adopted as part of a group's lingo (gyaru, or like-gyaru). It's important to avoid misrepresenting, like indicating that Nagatoro is a gamer (canonically, not really), or like draping a character in an argument on whose siubject they do not actually have a canon position (also, that's the Trans Pride flag, not the Nonbinary Pride Flag; is that an intentional mistake?).
I'm actually unused to devolving Twitter arguments so I'm guessing the issue is more tone of the debate rather than the substance?

getting downvoted because people can't handle the truth

That's the worst part, tbh. That she probably would use sus. Maybe not specifically as an "EPIC GAMER" slang term but in that it's a real slang term that predates Among Us.
But we can probably guess, given that it was Crunchyroll, that it was for the meme. So the whole thing is dumb from start to finish.
I could tell you why it's getting down voted: twitter banned almost all of it's right wing user base.
Twitter banned most qanon supporters after the capitol riot, but then again, if they're the kind of people who would seethe over the slightest slights to the point of praising nazi germany, they're probably not the safest people to keep around the town.
Then again, twitter ban left-wingers all the time. It's an open secret that twitters automated report functions are a joke so much that people from all sides will just abuse it to get what they want.
I would say I'm surprised, but I'm not. There seems to be this weird event that happens, where if you say "nazis are bad" anywhere you'd find weebs, you get down voted to hell. It happens on here, knowyourmeme, Sankaku Complez (though that's a garbage website to begin with, with a clear bias and right wing agenda).

This is part of the argument to purge toxic haters from a given fandom. They're not really fans, just vile individuals looking for safe spaces for their hatred. They colonize the fandom and drive sane, loving peoples out, to the point of the fandom being remembered solely for their hatred. Not the first time it happened, and is still going on this very website.
I dunno, there is something weird in adding memes in translation when there were no jokes originally.
Except, according to everything I've read about this, the slang Nagatoro uses fits "sus" just fine, so you can't even be sure that it was only used because it's currently a meme. "Sus" existed before Among Us, people are allowed to use it without it being a reference.
Now, if we're talking about the AL translation, that's another story. They've taken so many liberties with that script, and even had the gall to reference it during the Bel-chan event.

Those are half-rate word-for-word translators. In broad terms, bad translators translate words, mediocre translators translate sentences, good translators translate conversations. "Sus" existed beforehand, but it's no coincidence this is the first time they're translating it that way. Putting the completely unnecessary political associations that have been made (for whatever reason) aside, it isn’t a good translation. It’s not the worst you’ll see, but it’s not something that should ever be acceptable from someone who's getting paid to do this. It’s also not the first time Crunchyroll has fucked up some subs (nor is it even close to being the worst instance of it).

I think it's really easy to just ignore stupid people saying dumb things. They just want to get a reaction out of you, and thats what they get when you give them any attention. I'd say even a ban gives them what they want. But then again, I'm a free speech guy, I want them to have a voice so I can laugh at them. Maybe I just like talking shit to people who say dumb things on the internet, who knows.
But I would like to know which left wingers have been banned and why. I keep my ear to the ground in a lot of places so the fact that I haven't heard about this yet is a little distressing.

Now, not to dismiss your argument, or defend Crunchyroll (fuck them), but so many translators, professional or fan, talk like this. I'm not convinced that there is an inherently "best" way to translate. Certainly there are objectively bad ways to do it, but when it comes to the best way, everyone who translates things has a different opinion, and those that enjoy translated works also have different opinions on what they think is best. Professional translators will go on and on about "industry standards" and all the things that would never be accepted in an officially translated work, like honorifics, when there are hundreds of examples, old and new, of official translations that contradict every single claim they make. Fan translators vehemently condemn translations that remove the extra U's from names or localize Hata no Kokoro as Kokoro Hata (I'm someone who can't stand the latter).
If there's really a best way to translate, we haven't figured it out yet, but every single translator in the world thinks they know exactly which way is best. Personally, as long as it doesn't mangle the original meaning too much and doesn't treat its readers like idiots who can't comprehend a foreign culture, I'm satisfied. I just wanna enjoy something I wouldn't be able to because I can't read the language it was originally written in.

Wait! You mean people who don't bring any arguments to the discussion are getting downvoted for it?
Let's all remember to stay civil and not throw slurs around for a kick. Danbooru does not censor content based on political affiliations, so this post has as much right to go through the queue as any other post.

It sounds like you're picking and choosing here since we've had real minor or insignificant stuff added to current events before simply because it gained traction on Twitter like the tracer butt controversy for instance and just pointing it out there but the uzaki stuff was a flame war.

Uzaki sorta of started a trend with a very obvious and directed point and counterpoint. This is, well, this is one thread that hasn't meant particularly much.
Holy shit. The amount of banned throwaway troll accounts here really accentuate that the original point of these haters was never about the quality of the translation. It's all about finding a wedge to insert all the hate towards various minorities for a pathetic kick.

Happens every single time without fail when the art in question is about some sort of controversy that triggers authright leaning people.

... and yet, somehow, they still infest my feed. It's almost like right-wingers can't see the difference between "being censored" and "being contradicted".

Could that, perhaps, have anything to do with only one side of the political aisle acting as terrorists around that time?
