I could see those, though while I think the Naru is much more spot on than Motoko. Something about her design makes me think of some other characters more than Motoko, but all along the same character design.

I'm getting bad muv-luv flashbacks.

Kicker about that is that Naru was more popular than Motoko in japan.... yes that's hard to believe as well. But BB's general assessment is spot on.
