She launched the torpedo that led to Taiho sinking yes, but it was Taiho's inept damage control that killed the ship. The 1/6 torpedoes that hit, ruptured a fuel tank causing fuel to pool in one of her elevators and to fill the elevator shaft with gas fumes...which her damage control foolishly tried venting through Taiho's badly designed damage control systems, filling the entire ship with gas fumes, and when something inevitably sparked and ignited those fumes....boom.
