Imagine hanging someone just because they treated an abyssal's teeth.
Did they also kill off loli hime as well?
Hasn't been translated yet, but I'm pretty sure that... yeah. It definitely looks like it.
And also, I would have thought they'd keep him around. He's a doctor (dentist, yeah, but still) who worked on multiple types of abyssals. The amount of intelligence they could potentially get even from that would be something to jump on. It may be touched in the untranslated parts, but until that happens, it just seems like they decided to go straight to execution.
Abyssals are enemies of humanity, so people aren't going to be clamoring to define or defend their rights.
Dentist repeatedly went to a separate secluded location to provide "aid and comfort" to the enemy.
Said services are technically medical in nature, but not for "critical" immediately-life-threatening injuries.
Dentist performed said services while under the direction and (arguably) management of Abyssals.
Dentist never reported the presence of Abyssals despite multiple opportunities to do so.
Dentist received war trophies made from MUTILATED BODY PARTS of his own country's "soldiers" as payment for his services.
Dentist confessed to everything and expressed zero remorse for his actions.
Did I mention that Abyssals are the enemies of all humanity and aren't human either?
Yeah, people will be clamoring for his punishment. There might be some arguments for clemency or for covering this up, with reasons varying from the practical (cooperation on data obtained) to face-saving (this just looks bad for the local law enforcement and military), to compassionate (on behalf of the dentist because he's clearly not right in the head), but once this hits the news (the reveal did happen in a public place) it would just be "bad optics" to defend him or plead for leniency.
Medical professionals in real-life have also been prosecuted for providing aid to terrorists, insurgents and other "illegal organizations" before. Here's a detailed paper. Now, a lot of these cases can be problematic, because lawful combatant or not, Geneva Conventions or not, one can still make a case that it infringes upon human rights and that they have a chilling effect on the medical profession (pressuring them to make decisions that go against conventional medical ethos). But a lot of governments and citizens are... okay with such because these people are perceived as "the enemy". It's hard to argue against such laws (and implementations) because you just get screamed "traitor" and all other manner of hurled insults.
Now take out "human" from the above equation and ramp up the "terrorism"/unjustified attacks on human populations 100x. And throw in some implied mind control on top. Trying to argue for medical care on compassionate grounds suddenly became far less tenable. Especially if said medical professional deliberately went out to seek said "enemies", acted under the direction of said enemies, and received... mutilated body parts as payment. And had never once reported* the presence of said enemies, with said enemies being free to come and go each time they receive treatment.
(*Even doctors get into trouble with law enforcement if they provide medical attention to people with suspected crime-related gunshot/etc. injuries without reporting it after the fact.)
Textbook "providing aid and comfort to the enemy". Open-and shut treason case. Only way to defend is to argue for insanity or undue influence. Which they already kinda did by checking whether his mind was compromised by the Abyssals. Which would likely also involve a detailed psych eval (or a few) that also ruled out vanilla insanity during the process.

Yeah that was the fact he gets roped in the end. In Warhammer40k words "No mercy for the alien."
We made those monsters mainly to hide the fact the we ourselves are usually responsible or capable of doing the monstrous things the "Monsters" we make are capable of doing or are know to do.
But on topic of the story.
I knew it was gonna be sad but Jesus I was not prepared for the how much this hurt to read.
The fact that they ran away from the fight and went straight to him and their meeting place more than implied that they didn't really want to keep fighting and we're likely just following whatever higher ups the Abyssals had orders.
The "providing aid and comfort to the enemy" is questionable since what he did doesn't exactly strengthen the Abyssals or weaken humanity. It's not like he's mending a broken bone, stitching a gunshot, or treating an illness which will allow Abyssals to fight better. In fact, I would argue his actions indirectly helped humanity by making the Abyssals go to his island to die instead of going back to their base to heal and fight more. His actions might have also made the Abyssals easier to fight as they will no longer be driven to be more aggressive due to pain/stress. Abyssals treated by him might have also killed less people because they don't want his disapproval.
Saying Abyssals don't have human rights because they aren't human is slightly questionable because humanity hasn't met any species with human-like intelligence yet. And even then we have rights concerning animal abuse.
Even without the insanity plea someone can probably argue the dentist has Stockholm Syndrome. However, considering that Stockholm Syndrome potentially doesn't even exist, he was executed to prevent any evidence humanizing the Abyssals and keep "the enemy" narrative going. It's easier for the public to think the dentist is evil or a traitor than consider there can be some sort of neutral interaction with Abyssals.
I would need more history regarding this world to form an opinion about how justified "the enemy" mentality is (as in is it mostly propaganda or truth).
