Uh no, remake Tifa is just as big, she's wearing a sports bra under her tank top so her muns are consolidated more then normal.
Also, original was from the era before graphics could render circles, and working with triangles and minimum object sizes made their choices "flat" and "giant angular things that could be used as the model for the torso of a small child". Compare her to her artwork rather than the polygon monstrosity, and she's about the same size as always.
Her bust was already stylistically reduced in other games, so this arguement is already late.
I doubt they're going to make her smaller, but the aim of this game's art is definitely towards realistic, 7.5-8.5 head tall models and away from the sporty, exaggerated art and 4-5 head tall models that were in the original game.
Her breasts would have to be smaller for those proprtions to work, or else she's going to look like she has I cups.

Women in real life have huge tits, so why not in this game. I get that over the years they repressed them, but that doesn't mean they can be big or over-exaggerated. If games and anime keep toning down like this then eventually we'll hit zero sexual appeal.
They're big enough, honestly. Also, seriously, some people prefer more slender women. Making the breast sizes more realistic (As in, not toward the extreme end of the bell curve) does not mean they will lose sex appeal.

As people said, because she never had said huge tits in even her oldest concept arts. It was simply that era's way of communicating "busty" with the graphics limitation.
Like Lara Croft, would you want her to have giant triangles for boobs just to "keep it the way it was"?
Welp, I guess y'all ain't gonna complain when they start reducing size and skin in other games, which it will happen, even Yoko Taro is we're seeing the end of an era. With Lara, I'm not saying to make them bigger to the point of absurdity, but when your character was built on sex-appeal, use it make them big. Real women have big tits, nothing to be ashamed of and I've already seen photoshops of Tifa that make her look perfect. I find it pretty funny that people are still drawing her with absurdly large tits when everyone admits to the nerf.

Well, your argument is legitimate up to the first point. It is not unrealistic to portray extremely busty women, because extremely busty women are real. They can be represented tastefully I'm sure, but Tifa has never been shown as that kind of character.
She already has enough of a problem of being defined as one of gaming's biggest sex symbols; I think it wouldn't go over well at this point.
Don't get me wrong though, I feel like a darker, realistic remake will be major disservice to the original work. I'm betting this remake is going to come out and it's going to miss the mark big time.

I have no doubt that older tech didn't allow for better models and she could've been very well smaller then the result. However over the years she got a reputation of being the bustiest amongst the cast and bigger boobs became an expectation. I've seen the official art and I can see people's points in the original intent, however she has a rep and its not a bad thing to give fans what they want. Aranea having a big open bust shows that that square can still make them sexy whilst being serious. I dunno, I've seen people saying they like 'em thinner, to which they have Aeris and Yuffie, the realism argument in a fantasy game and ect. Personally, I don't think is a good trend but I will admit it could've been far worse in censorship.
I don't think being a sex symbol is a bad thing, especially when their selling expenisive ass figure that people buy up or buy games for. "If I'm gonna stare at someone's ass for 30+ hours might ass well be a good one" I'd like think.
I don't think its gonna be great, I've been seeing a lot complaints about the new combat system, as far as tone I think we'll have to see, but I get your point. I think it'll be like KH3, where the shills will defend it due to rep for a week then people will point out its imperfections.
And fanartists will give any characters with gigantic tits even if their official design is flat as a board, just check the new Gym leader girl who had just been released. The issue is that you(and everyone who complained) just got way too used to Tifa having I cup boobs.
Am I saying real women with I cup doesn't exist? No. Am I saying this less bustier Tifa can't be sexy? No. Am I saying fanartists aren't allowed to increase characters' boobs up as much as they want? No. I'm just saying you're objectively wrong if you say the new Tifa is straying away from what her original design was.

You could do something like this and it wouldn't hurt https://twitter.com/BellowDGaming/status/1138295307970605056 but even then you left out this one https://i.imgur.com/jq1Jx6P.jpg and the OG cutscene model was pretty big. Heck if the fans expect busty why not give it to them, it worked out well for 2Bs ass, and Tifa has that rep so why not. Yeah I know fan artist take things to extremes, I just commented on how its funny that even with the reduction they still draw her as being I cup. And no, she still is cute, make no mistake it could've been way worse.
Of all the things to discuss about the remake i never thought Tifa's boobs would be the most heated one. People take breasts very seriously or what? I thought her size is pretty closer to her advent children's one.

My thing about it is that the impact of covering her up more and "reducing" size sets a bad precedent for the industry. Now granted her design isn't far off, breasts aren't that smaller, but its a gradual change in a darker direction. Tell me do you remember or know of Miss Marvel (Carol Danvers), she was extremely good looking and had size able assets. Over time, not all at once, they changed her, they made her in what can only be described as an androgynous male a far cry from her original designs as Miss Marvel. The same thing happened with MK9 to MK11, it didn't happen at once, but when MK10 dropped and the females were more covered, less busty and nobody complained kinda like whats happening here. Then they took it a step further in MK11 but by that point the fans from MK9 had no ground left to stand on because they let MK10 slide, and the majority didn't care so the game did good regardless. Now tell me when FF7R does good, not if, what message do you think other companies will take from seeing Tifa covered up and reduced, and the fans not caring to liking it. They'll do the same just as American comics and gaming did, your gonna see gradual reductions in femininity, exposure, and size over time. It can be described by O'Sulivan's Law, that if you're not overtly against a progressive view set you will eventually become them. So yes, I am scared shitless of Tifa's new look, because I've seen this entropy happen before in comics and it does not end well for the consumer.
Tifa has large breasts, realistically pleasing large breasts. Let's all agree on that.
Realistically pleasing? How about Barret? He's 6'5. Less than 1% of all men on the planet get that big. There are women with boobs as big as Tifa's out there, and it's not because they're simply fat. Why can't Tifa just be that exceptional, as characters in a story are often meant to be?

I'd imagine its the difference between Barret being a wonder of the universe ala Arnold Schwarzenegger and Barret looking like Fighter. Dragon's Crown is an example, however, of using extremes in proportion as part of it's style and a lot of work went into consistency. If you are going for a more 'realistic' game, uncanny valley is going to be the biggest limitation here. I mean we're still not a point where long hair can be given physics without freaking out, the idea of being able to support classic-era boobage isn't going to go well unless you go ala them being static.
Even games like Honey Select seem to have issues with physics in relatively down-to-earth animations, I can't imagine a game like FF trying it and not having it turn comical.

FF7 was a pretty comical game. And FFXIV has an infamous on-going subplot with exaggerated feats of strength and facial expressions. Not to mention that people make fun of Tifa, her outfit, and her proportions all the time, in-game and out. This doesn't mean people don't take her seriously or respect her, I tend to think of it as people poking fun at a good friend.
Suffice to say, if someone has a problem with her appearance, then as far as I'm concerned, they are not a fan. They never respected her, they never took her seriously, and they certainly don't consider her a friend. And such people should obviously have no say whatsoever what goes into developing or portraying her character, as they don't have anyone's best interests at heart. They simply want an audience as they stand on a soap box spouting self-righteous nonsense, while attempting to destroy a gaming icon.

My point still stands that having a realistic art style but stylized proportions are hideous. BRINK is the classic example of how badly the two will clash with now awful the character design looked.
