To be fair, a student teacher teaching in a high school is bound to run into this situation. They're only about 3-4 years apart, after all.

As a student teacher myself, the question is always this or "How old are you?"

And the correct response is always 10 seconds of silence before just moving on.

Why Crocs, though...?

At a guess: because student teachers are expected to stand and observe, and crocs are incomparably easier to stand in than regular shoes. It's known tech for restaurant workers and other professions where you're expected to be on your feet for hours at a time.

Why cover the name of the University.

I work in a hospital and crocs are pretty much the got-to footwear for most of the nursing staff there.

I had a substitute teacher (sort of) like this for a month or two. She was really hot. Too bad that was eighth grade.
