Personally, I was thinking, "Oh, thank God, she's not as broken as she was when she was Re-Class!" It would have killed what precious little tension this story (to say nothing of this arc) had left if Hayase was functionally invincible.

Of course she's not. The reason she was so ungodly powerful as Re-Class wasn't just the tail and berserker state- it was her utterly insane regeneration from having two cores. She doesn't have that anymore, so she's "only" as strong as a Ship Girl/ Abyssal with the same training as Reiji himself.
