That's not accurate. Google has automatic face recognition and blurring in place.

Even if that's true, facial recognition algorithms tend to do poorly at odd orientations. I'd imagine depending on what they used, taking up the entire field of view, and being rotated a full 90 degrees could have screwed it up, and ended up with it not being blurred.
