I use to hear conversations like this at college and sometimes at Malls. With speakers of many languages throwing in single English words or phrases while in conversation. Be it Spanish, Chinese, Dari, or Japanese.

Well, this is more-or-less why English is the way that it is. Thanks to the British Empire and English spreading so far and wide, English has a ton of words that came from various other languages, and even its roots are a mish-mash of German, old Gaelic languages, and some French. This is why English grammar is a clusterfuck of different grammar rules applying to different words imported from different languages.
Likewise, the Japanese word for bread, パン ("pan") is just directly from Portuguese, who first imported it, and it became a de-facto Japanese word. Meanwhile, Coffee is コーヒー ("kohii"), which is obviously just the English word Engrished into Japanese parlance.
