    Original is written in pseudo-kanbun, basically Ye Olde Butcherede Zipangese.

    Sometimes kanban-musume is also used to describe a 'cute' girl (real or 2D) who attracts visitor to a store (or website), even if she's performing some other role (or no role at all other than standing around) instead of standing outside the store near the signboard handing out flyers or asking customers to come in (like what AL Fubuki is doing). Wikipe-tan is sometimes described as one in Japanese sources. In this case, "mascot", "mascot girl" or "store mascot" would work better.

    Edit: Oh god, the commentary description is in Japanese-influenced pseudo-kanbun (wenyan/Classical Chinese). I can understand it, but trying to get the same effect across in the translation is hard. Need Shakespearean English to do it, with liberal use of iambic pentameter.
