Azur Lane Taihou is like KC Taihou's exact opposite.

Sadly WSG Taihou isn't here.

AZ Taihou seems to be quite popular isn't she? She's already had more arts uploaded here than AZ Kongou or Haruna.

There are two big reasons, but not including the fact that she's voiced by Aoi Yuuki.

Which is rather sad in my opinion. Those are well designed too.
But I can see the reasons why, they're pertty obvious.

I guess they are pretty obvious, but then I also thought AZ Victorious would hit it off too but not really it turns out (not to mean that they are similar, but that it's probably not that obvious to me which character will be popular or what not).

That being said, the artist's kind of struck some source of inspiration this time, hasn't he, given his previous designs (Surcouf, Honolulu, St Louis). I wonder how the design process work in general for this game - surely the design isn't done by the artist alone?

Well, in that minidocumentary made by Crunchyroll the devs explained several things about the character design process:

-They have an historian that gives the artist all the details they need to design the shipgirls .

-They want to show all of those references in a different fashion.

-Their characters are very uniquely set apart from one another.

-They go all the way once their decide what direction go with the character.

-They dont create characters with two or more archetypes mixed, they feel that's ambiguous.

-Not related to characters directly but they also talked about their UI, they seeck to achieve make it even more minimalist and fashionable comparer to the competitors UIs.

I can already see how much they dont want to be like KC and is fascinating to certain extend how far they really went with that goal.
Now what really i want to know is the KC's character design process.
Recently the devs have anouncent an artbook with sketchs and a lot of content about the shipgirls designs.
