All very sad, but the backstory of how Internet Explorer abused everyone during her supremacy has to be taken into account.
When she was sold as a child by her parents to a criminal gang --- who almost dementedly typically, like they couldn't help themselves from doing the wrong thing, bilked the parents of the price --- she was seen as the best thing on the block; but years of use, and years of neglect from her guardians, led to a crack addiction which meant bad things happened to those who used her and a snubbing by her of all her compères, including Firefox ( who then developed her own mania ).
Now retired by her pimps forever in favour of the new girl, hard-faced Edge, she lapses into contrite friendliness, but her days are done.

But hey, Billy gives loads of his billions to charity just like any other golden-age robber baron, so all's good.
