I have no doubt that Incomparable as designed was a pipe-dream.

That listed top speed would have only been achievable under ideal conditions, her turning rate would have been utter shit given her length and steering technology of the time, and her armor and torpedo protection would have been heavily compromised by her Battlecruiser requirements.

Her expected 20" guns would also have caused serious issues considering the 18" guns were reported as 'showering rivets inside the ship' every time they fired onboard the Furious-class ships.

And this isn't accounting for the fact she'd be totally obsolete long before WWII even began and highly vulnerable to Air and Submarine attack.

Well, if you're going to talk about completely fictional weapons, you can throw down fantastical stats of almost anything that wouldn't collapse under its own weight into a mini-black hole. Kaneda's batshit insane 500,000 ton pipe dream super-super-super!-SUPER!!-dreadnaught-class takes the cake, since it may have "only" had 16-inch guns (the same as Yamato), but it would have hypothetically carried 50 of them in what can only be considered a child's toy or World War 1 era tank's idea of turret placement. Also, on paper, it would outrun Shimakaze with 42 knots top speed. (HAHAHAHAHAHA!) It would have also been infinity times a MILLION! 609 meters in length.

Also, here's an image with a redesign so that it's also two aircraft carriers glued together on top of a battleship, because why the fuck not?! Note that the runways are sitting on top of several turrets as large as Yamato's, because I'm sure that'd be stable. Also, the fore and aft guns can't turn because they'll crash into the runway.

Also also, because these are just numbers being thrown around outside of any kind of context, here's a set of models that demonstrate how much this hypothetical battleship would dwarf the likes of Yamato.

Wasn't that more an issue with Furious' very lightly-constructed hull?

Not entirely. Even the Yamatos had serious problems with the firing of her guns causing explosions so powerful that nobody could be on the decks when they were being fired... which is a problem when all your air defenses are uncovered emplacements just sitting out on the decks.

The original AA emplacements had sufficient blast protection. The additional AA emplacements were supposed to receive the same, but due to material shortages did not receive all the blast shielding necessary.

The Furious class had very lightly built hulls, but from an engineering perspective they are works of art in having abnormally low water resistance allowing for great speed.

The United States also had made designs somewhat similar in concept to this. Now the design for these Battleships were uh how to say, feasible but fucking stupid and the US Navy knew that, they just wanted Congress of their back so they could make actual good battleships.
Now there were multiple designs (all which were as long a Pennsylvania class Dreadnought and a pre-dreadnought combined), but the one that the United States Congress actually wanted to be further developed would be given FIFTEEN 18in guns as the main armament, and belt armour 203-406mm thick.

This comment is now (almost) a reality, although she's not part of a BC line since she's a premium ship
