I've seen Japanese portray jellyfish stings as electric shocks before. First thing that comes to mind are the Mario games.

And I see we have the standard issue electric jellyfish (Warning: TV Tropes). All the more reason to look before you jump into the water.

Huh. Come to think of it, this IS the first time the abyssals have crashed the party. Kind of strange it went this long without that ever happening.
