It should not be surprising that Kogasa heard about Cabbage Patch Kids and assumed that's how babies are made. When she heard about Mary Poppins she jumped to the conclusion that it meant that girls flying around on umbrellas should be nannies.

To be fair in Gensokyo there might be some babies that did com out from cabbages.

I was going over The Birds and The Bees pool and I remembered that Hammer did this joke two years ago.

Well, Kaguya came from bamboo or something, so why not cabbages, right?

well a health life and diet makes a healthy baby that makes sense.

I guess it'd make sense for a youkai borne from an abandoned umbrella to know little to nothing about human biology.
