Someone please explain the "salt bae" joke. What is a "bae", why is that video popular? KYM description doesn't make sense to me, or at least I feel like I am missing something.

This meme is famous because of the chef's over-the-top style when pouring salt on beef steaks, and doing so when using sunglasses, increasing his smugness to over 9000. It's just that really. Internet always choose the weird things for it to be popular.

Ok got it. I came to a similar conclusion but I just didn't get the humor. I guess that makes me old then.
