    It's exploration of the interaction between the ship, human and grudge aspects of the entity called a 'kanmusume'.

    Where does each side end and how do they interact with each other?

    Can those sides be separated?

    More importantly, how can normal humans manipulate one or more of these aspects to our own advantage?

    The reader is meant to ask the same questions as the characters and not know anything more than the answers the characters discover.
