Try using your other hand. I spent a year trying to learn, then one day I switched hands for the hell of it, and was eating like a natural in five minutes. Wanted to punch myself in the head... You can switch back to your dominant hand once you get the hang of it. Brains are stupid that way.

No, but you can use a fork or a spoon.
