Yikes, I'm really hoping he starts throwing some variation into the uniform. Like soon.
Variations in uniform tend to come when there was actual differences in the design. (I.E. Umikaze on down had a slight modernization update compared to the previous Shiratsuyus.) The first and the last Yuugumos are already in, so there's even less reason to make the middle Yuugumos have a different uniform.
They'll have to rely upon even wilder character traits, hair styles, and personalities to distinguish them.
They could just make one that's a hopelessly shy and bumbling girl with crazy-long hair... it worked for Yamakaze, and it's not like the Shiratsuyus needed to try hard to stand out.

I don't know, I must be like the only guy that sort of likes uniforms being uniform within a class, being you know mostly uniform. Frankly I think allot of the non-standard Kagero for instance are crap. The DesDiv 17 variation is okay but the Dog, Beaver, and Chimeny are fetish fuel crap. I've just never gotten the hate people seem to have for the Yuugumo having a consistent uniform.

No, youre not the only Person to think like this, wearing the same Uniforms in their Class is just logical.I dont think the nonregular Kageros are utter crap, but I like the fanart when they wear the normal Kagero Uniform :)
I only S-ranked the boss node 1 time while clearing E-2 hard, and she dropped... I guess I'll see if she has any gear before scrapping. There just aren't enough ship slots for all these Yuuguclones.

I actually like it if it's similar because they're the same class. It makes more sense. Yuugumo, Kamikaze and Akizuki has the most uniformed design among DD by far, everything else is a mess of contradictions. Like Murakumo, why is she's looking different than the other Fubukis, or the most obvious ones, The mess of designs that is the Kagerou class.

Well, there's a simple reason for the mess of designs in the Kagerou class, and that's that they let Yoshinori slip his leash upon them, so they all have zero uniformity in uniform, massively overstylized designs, and generally wearing outright ridiculous things. (Seriously, it's hard to find a joke about a stupid outfit in KanColle that ISN'T about a Yoshinori design...)

Yes, and you can instantly tell WHICH three (plus Shimakaze, which gets lumped in since they share more qualities with the unique one-off than the ships of their own class), which is my point.
Perhaps the devs like the design and made her the "unique" ship among the Fubuki-class.
But anyways, I like the general unified theme of the Yuugumo-class like they came from the same school etc. As Yuugumo, stated to "follow" the lead-ship's example in this case, their clothes.

Wait...You're bagging on Yoshinori's Designs? His designs look perfectly normal. If you want to argue designs that don't fit, Look no further than Ayaki(who is incedently my favorite artists of the group). All his girls literally have future-tech on which is probably why he isn't hired to draw more girls since well...World War 2 theme and all that.
I mean if we want to make fun of artists, Shibafu is the worst of the bunch with his stupid Potato faces and copy/pasta art. Who sadly is one of the more main artist for Kancolle.

No, the most outlandish designs in KanColle are Yoshinori's. Shibafu gets tons of flack for his early work, but his work's been getting steadily better, while Yoshinori just keeps zig-zagging between being restrained and slipping his leash and making trainwreck designs like the ludicrously over-designed Akitsushima. Just look at how he made Iowa, then had to be tamed again to make the more presentable Saratoga, then made the yukata Iowa seasonal pic to try to undo the nonsense.
Flying turrets or robot halos are out of place, but so is all the "put a smokestack backpack on, and you're a ship!" gear. The outfits aside from rigging most of the destroyers wear are at least reasonable within the context of the younger girls wearing what are generally plausible school uniforms. Shibafu started off with the plain vanilla, and gets hate for being vanilla, but seriously, if you do any flavor first, it HAS to be vanilla. The Mutsukis, Asashios, Yuugumos, (the Kamikazes are Meiji school outfits for a Meiji-era ship, so it has some logic to it), and the non-Yoshinori Kagerous are all things girls might reasonably wear to school... Then Yoshinori makes shipgirls with see-through nightie shirts and body-length garterstraps attached to a choker/collar, and thongs with windsocks in her hair for his girls. Even the least crazy of the Kagerou designs he made has to have details of how overtly sexualized pointed out. Even when wrestled down and forced to make a restrained destroyer, his idea of subtlety is to then create an extra pic saying 'HEY GAIS, THIS IS WHAT I DID!'
For that matter, robot "ears"/halo aside, Tenryuu and Tatsuta are wearing at least plausible outfits for working adults, if a little tight around the chest. (No particular idea why they're the only "adult" light cruisers, while Suzuya and Mogami are "high school" heavy cruisers, yet Myoukou is an OL, but that's beside the point.) Basically, people could go around town in Tatsuta cosplay (at least, minus the polearm) without attracting calls to the police for indecent exposure.
Plus, if we're talking about "don't fit" or "future tech", then what the fuck are the Rensouhou-type living humunculus turrets that all of Yoshinori's destroyers have supposed to be?! No, seriously, are those technology (full-on robots) or outright magic?! Hell, as someone pointed out, in the anime, they eat food, so it's probably the "magical living creature with a metal body" route.
When Shibafu makes a battleship, she wears a karate gi and bodysuit. When Konishi makes battleships, they are the best girls they wear stylized miko outfits with changes made to add sexy in the form of zettai ryouiki and detached sleeves. When Yoshinori makes a battleship, she wears an armored miniskirt bikini with carrots on her head, or becomes the Mutslug joke, points out she stuffs her bra with Type 91 shells, or has the insane quad-tailed pop idol haircut plus nerd glasses on the bodybuilder sarashi body. Oh, yeah, plus "HEY GAIS, LOOK AT MAH TITS!" Iowa, who has an outfit that must require glue not to be a constant source of nip-slips. (Compounded by the most painful-to-listen-to voice acting, but that's not directly an art problem, so let's set that aside for now.)
Hell, Yamato deserves special mention, because clearly, at some point, the idea of "Yamato Nadeshiko" was supposed to be the idea behind her, but Fusou and Yamashiro so blatantly pull it off better than Yamato does... because they had an artist that could restrain themselves to staying on-topic. I already had this discussion about how personality doesn't match art style on the I-13 image (including a several paragraph rant on how Akitsushima is the victim of the worst art design in the game), and wouldn't you know it? When I look through for characters whose art design doesn't match their in-game personalities, over half of them are Yoshinori, because he just can't help himself but continue to throw crazy, self-contradictory bullshit on his designs long after he should have stopped.
Seriously, how many manga have you seen with jokes making fun of designs by any artists that aren't either Shibafu "potato ship" jokes (and again, people LIKE Shibafu's newer stuff ), or "what the fuck was Yoshinori smoking?!" Now how many jokes have you seen about Shimakaze running around in a thong that isn't even remotely hidden by her miniskirt, or any of those battleship design jokes I mentioned? Hell, if you narrow it down to non-rigging outfit in particular, rather than making fun of goofy poses (like Kinu or Myoukou's damage pose), then the only non-Yoshinori character I can recall jokes upon outfit upon was Shouhou. All of the stupidest outfits in KanColle come from Yoshinori. He is the one artist in KanColle I just want to see benched. (Give Konishi and Bob more girls!)
