Pretty much how I felt. The show seems kind of cute, interesting that it is animated in 3D, after the 6ths episode I am pretty much hooked on the series
Wherever I am I must also befriend. This show turns your brain into happy meal lightning fast, and you'll be lovin' it.
I actually quit this show because of the animation. Those characters aren't interacting with their surroundings at all, but they seem to float if they are walking towards the horizon or when they jumped down this cliff in episode 1.

This. Call me shallow, but this combined with the frankly amateur-hour voice acting put me off real fast. Maybe if they released a tie-in comic or something I could see myself getting hooked on that, but as-is I have to be one of the unpopular kids who isn't on the hype train. :'<
I'm also confused to whether this is supposed to be the kids show that is supposed to teach about animals, or is it a 13+ demographic moeblob with the sole purpose of robbing their wallets via the mobile game tie-in.
I mean if it's the prior, then it would make sense if the animation and the voicework is low budget, but many other things I've seen such as the yuri kiss also seem to suggest it being the latter.
Also I would actually like to know what the supposed "hook" at 3rd ep is. Like how Madoka's ep3 hook was the Mami stinger. I tried giving this show watch on random clips on Niconico from post ep4+ scenes, and I don't really notice anything that jumps out.

It's the latter, although the actual game was discontinued before the first episode even aired and there are no plans to revive it in the near future.

The twist, such as it is, isn't really any specific event that happens within the episode or that radically changes the nature of the series, so it's no wonder that isolated clips wouldn't clue you in. It's more a combination of hints at the setting's backstory and what's specifically left unsaid about said backstory, which leads to wild speculation.
1. People on 2chan are like "The fuck is this, its oddly enjoyable". 2. 2chan carries on watching, start making lots of memes/funny images about the show and threads become busy there and on 2ch. 3. Memes start spreading to twitter. 4. Memes spread through twitter massively, people start using "friends" term all over the place. 5. Amount of fanart being produced explodes. 6. Kemono Friends is now popular.
Well aside from the dull 1st episode, the show is actually decent and fun to watch (like in the image). Even if I weren't influenced by the community, I'd be still watching I think.
