It's funny, because that's exactly what Homura does is the series, as she is not unfaithful or shallow. She knows she'll be with Madoka one day, and that's what she strives for.

To be fair to her, it was a bit of a paradox she was trapped in. To be with Madoka, she'd have needed to give in to despair and thus qualify for entry into Madokahalla per the Law of Cycles. But to give in to despair, she'd have needed to have lost all hope of reuniting with Madoka. So, knowing she'd one day be with Madoka was preventing her from ever being with Madoka.

In that context, going crazy is understandable.
