Well, technically speaking, instant photo cameras are still out there, but I remember Polaroid's variants being the most widely sought after (since I think Polaroid was the only maker that made a crapton of that)
Fujifilm still makes and develops new instant cameras, under the Instax brand - which uses pull-apart film rather than the auto-developing Polaroid type.
Polaroid went bankrupt from the downturn in film usage and production - a combination of decreased demand for Polaroid film and cameras, as well as the increase in chemical cost for film in general doomed it as a large corporation - the name lives on, but the original company is toast.
Polaroid is, in a way, succeeded by the Impossible Project. They still make the film and sell refurbished Polaroid cameras (as well as a new model of their own, but nowhere as pretty as the SX-70.
Lomography also make Instax compatible instant camera. But well, the price are competing (on who can make it more expensive) with Fujifilm.

I'm thinking of creating a pool for posts depicting Houshou being out of touch with modern technology. Any suggestions on the pool title?

Behind the times Houshou? Old-school Houshou? Out of touch Houshou? Technoslacker? Houshou is a real classic?
I'm not too good at pool names, I'm just a translator...

Analog Houshou or Classic Houshou is all I can think of.
That, and "Old Fashioned Houshou"

Hip Houshou
Grandma Houshou
Technophobe Houshou (not entirely accurate description)

"Shouwa Houshou"? "Houshou helpless in the Heisei" has some added alliterative appeal.
I like "Analogue Houshou", though...
Choices, choices... Hmm...

I think the pool should be a more general one. It should include characters other than Houshou.
Well I've seen more Houshou being depicted that way than any other shipgirls, but if you guys agree with it, then I'll go with the shipgirls in general instead of just Mama Houshou.
Honestly there also should be more pics of the reverse, younger generations don't understand older tech. Like my 5 year old cousin tried to press the icon on my laptop screen.

Perhaps they're still ahead of you; worked on a pair of new budget laptops last week that both have touchscreens as standard...

I used to live a couple of miles from Polaroid world headquarters. It was a sad day, a few years after I moved away, to be back in town and see it in the process of being torn down.
Weirdly, whoever owns the IP these days seems to be using it for Nostalgia Products in general; I was in a store the other day and noticed a USB turntable (presumably for ripping LP records to MP3) with Polaroid branding on it.
I'd rather it not be tied to copyright since it's not a theme particularly specific to Kantai Collection.
While it's fine to have general pools, I think character-specific ones are also called for. There's value in having a specific "Nagamon" pool versus any sort of "charisma break" or "pedophilic tendencies" character moment.
The joke being portrayed is specifically that Houshou is considered the old-fashioned woman that's behind the times compared to girls like Imuya that are expressly shown as glued to their smartphones, which has meaning specific to Kantai Collection, and the characterization of specific ships beyond a mere "Mom doesn't get the difference between Gundams and Veritechs".
So this is the post that started the new pool. Cleverly bringing a smile to your face. ;D
