Warspite... just because your Swordfish (hmm, her Supermarine Walrus(?) on her slingshot in ships was a Swordfish during '40, yes?) bombed the shit out of a U-boat doesn't mean the same lulz will happen again.

Speaking of which, never did hear of the Swordfish packing ASW shit despite being a fairly good biplane in terms of aircraft simplicity.

Most seaplanes that could carry bombs were usually capable of carrying depth charges as well. It's likely Warspite's catapult aircraft may have carried depth charges for use against submarines.

I don't know the specifics of Warspite's case, but submarines were bombed and torpedoed quite frequently during the war.

Probably a surface bomb. Subs are slowish and take a bit of time to dive, so planes can easily jump them.

A well drilled crew could dive a sub quite quickly, so a standard torpedo attack would be unlikely to be effective. There was however the FIDO Mark 24 mine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_24_mine

But that's not what Warspite's Swordfish is armed with.
