My 'humane theory of harem protagonist stupidity' hinges upon the protagonist being aware that, as harem size increases, so does the likelihood of one or more of them being yandere.
In order to protect himself and others, our protag must continue the game until the yan is identified and eliminated, determined to be suitably nonthreatening (your Ayases), or simply married. It's basically the board game Clue.

To this day Ichika remains a shining example of how NOT to write a harem protag. He still did his job somewhat, by that, I mean he showed off the girls' charm points (The girls are more often the important part of a harem series anyway). A harem MC should, at the very least, be adept at getting cute/flustered reactions from his girls.

Well, as far as I can see in my knowledge of IS characters:
Houki - Tsundere, close (?) childhood friend Ceilia (?) - Airheaded/Easygoing/Deadly Cook Rin - Outgoing/energetic Charlotte - Deredere/Supportive Laura - Definitely Tsundere, maybe with a little splash of Yandere with the "Ichika will be my wife" business
Then enter the wildcards of the russian repensivative and her sister. One seems to be playful while the other is shy but slowly opens up to Ichika. I forget those character names unfortunately.

Because with an airhead Osmium-vaporhead as dense as Ichika, everyone has turned Tsun at some point or another.
Charlotte is awful dere though. She is also pretty accepting of his harem too. I agree that when she does show her tsun side it isn't default, its in response to something idiotic MC-san did.

I'll agree with that. Although I'd put Charlotte into the "Loyal to MC-san" category. She knows she wants him, but has competition.
I had no idea this was going to be rin. Wow Btw, why the hell is she called rin anyway?!
In series its apparently because Japanese kids cannot into Chinese names, so kept calling her something that translates to something like 'Banana'. IIRC, Ichika gave her Rin as a nickname, and she pretty much imprinted on him.
