Ya know what's interesting? The JDS Yukikaze was commissioned in 1956. The Yukikaze Tan Yang was decommissioned and scrapped in 1971. They could have easily met each other.

This would be why Yukikaze would know what her younger self was like. (Interesting that the JDS Yukikaze doesn't have a wiki entry at all. Didn't know there even was one.)

Indeed, and what kind of girls were they?
    ... right...
    I'm honored!
Their speed was like zoom-zoom-zoooom, and their armament was like bam-bam-baaaam!
The design of the Harukaze-class was based on that of the American Navy's Gearing-class and of the former Japanese Navy's Shiratsuyu-class!
Yukikaze's name was chosen for her fortune during the war, and Harukaze's because her luck as an escort fit the Self-Defense Force's mission. During the war, Harukaze (1922) escorted many troop convoys and, while damaged, survived the war
The Self-Defense Force's first domestically-built escort ships were called Harukaze and Yukikaze! The JMSDF uses a different name (lit. "escort vessel") for their post-war destroyers, but they are still considered destroyers and use the DD classification code
