The Memory Heads were pretty different, compared to the other Amalgamates anyways. They were the only ones that didn't resemble any known monster in the game. Maybe they're made up of remnants of Gaster? Their attacks look like his head, after all...

That actually IS the running theory, Blue. The Memory Heads are speculated to be chunks of Gaster left behind on the physical plane. They might be made out of monster mush that got cast off when the various souls of the Amalgamates merged, animated by Gaster's lingering will.

What the hell he's trying to say with "come join the fun" is beyond me, though.

Welp, my headcanon is that the Memoryheads are byproduct of extracting the Determination from the souls. Like, along with Determination Alphys also extracted bits of souls' memories which when mixed with Determination came into a more or less stable magic lifeform. Much like Flowey, who has no soul too, but the Determination brought him to life somehow.

Though since it's not clearly stated neither in game nor by Toby, everything goes, I guess! :3
