Maybe some people don't like seeing "slapstick" in general, especially when it's performed more viscerally than usual upon sympathetic characters? (I never liked a lot of the Tom and Jerry cartoons to start with, but when it was Furball in Tiny Toons adventures, where the atrociously misnamed "Sweetie" tortured the innocent cat for no reason other than being an absolute psychopath, there was nothing funny about it at all, and I couldn't watch the series...)

Ever since I grew older, I stopped watching shows like Tom & Jerry and Oggy & the Cockroaches, because I just really feel more hate against (who was supposed to be) the protagonists.
