It's technically not random, but wasn't it an item (from an enemy) that allows her to get the skills? Those mighty guards are really useful. Devour is a skill from one of the GFs

It's a GF command skill. Eden can learn it, and you can teach it to any GF with the Hungry Cookpot item. (It's a very useful skill too, since you can gain permanent stat increases by devouring some enemies.)
