from the looks of it, it seems the other Admiral expected the Abyssals to fight back, probably to just get proof they are dangerous rather than having a serious fight, and from Aoba's comment it seems they expected the Abyssals to not be as strong without their installations and rigs

I'm kind of wondering if there is a story as to why that other admiral is the way he is.

While his behavior is quite deplorable, it looks like he has perhaps seen his share of action against what I assume is the Abyss.

I also notice his ship girls had no problem enacting his orders.

Also wasn't he technically correct when he made the statement that the Admiral of the Naval Base hosting Abyssal Ship Girls is technically a traitor?

Maybe they're more advanced or are slightly newer? It seems like whatever operation they're running is not new to combat and (if that is the case) then they probably have, develop or receive the better technology.

Still I have to wonder what the Abyss may have did to them to make him consider striking a child?

Or what the top Brass thinks of the situation going on at that Naval Base.

Because this has been out of the Heart-Warming pool for too long...
