So Yuudachi just skipped Kai? The Anime doesn't exactly follow gameplay mechanics to a T. Who the hell sends the Kongou sisters on an Expedition? They use the term "major Remodel" and Fubuki is in her Kai 2 form. A kai works in game form, but would be mostly worthless in anime form since there is no difference from a ship going from "Normal" to "Kai" in game. Only Kai2s actually get any noticible differences. Some exceptions like Chiyoda and Chitose although they aren't major characters, so it's not like we're gonna see them turn into Light Carriers anytime soon.
