I dunno, that particular scene seems pretty normal and not tied to one series. Naruto did the exact same thing with his Rasangen on Kabuto. He couldnt use his other arm(though it wasnt as badly as damaged as Gohans) so he used a shadow clone to make up for it.

He actually didn't use a shadow clone. He always uses them in normal situations, but with that one fight, his Rasengan kind of just generated in his good hand. But I think this is a Rasengan because of the way the Rasengan spirals.

Actually he did a similar one-handed rasengan while using the one tailed cloak, that's probably a more accurate homage to Gohan's Father-son kamehameha wave.
