It's more distracting this way, but less so than dividing it into two separate lines, as the timing (of the pauses) doesn't work as well in English.

The pause timing seems natural enough to me.
Mind you, even if the pause doesn't occur in Japanese where it would in English, that doesn't mean you can't shift it in translation so it DOES sound natural in English. It just wasn't necessary here.
Now, after translations, perhaps there is a mix of Münchausen syndrome in there... Seeing as she expects to be taken care of by the Admiral.
