That's just how they talk, even in the original game. For instance, Yuudachi is an ocean of poi, which Paracite translates to "like."

I do try to make each girl sound different in English, yes. Since they are different enough in Japanese to do so.

I definitely prefer the "like" translation for "-poi" instead of just adding it onto the end of the English sentence. It's interesting to read different series on here and see different translation techniques all the time, though.

Good work and thanks for doing this one, by the way, Paracite. That handwriting looks like murder.

What about nanodesu? Why not translating it? My extremely limited knowledge of Japanese makes me think that depending of the context it might work as "that is so," "is that so," or even "make it so"...

It acts as a confirmation, emphasising (when used as the copula at the end) that the sentence that has just been said it true and correct (in the mind of the speaker). Unlike -poi, it can stand alone, as it is (techinically) a free form. However, Inazuma's use of it (she uses nanoda and nano as well, which I don't transliterate, just translate) is a meme within itself. I feel that -poi dosen't quite work without being translated (some of the time), and is less memetic. Also, -poi directly modifies the sentence (as it is a bound form, even though Yuudachi uses it as a free form sometimes), so it's much harder to just not translate. For much of the time that nanodesu is used, you could remove it without changing the meaning of the sentence too much (in English or Japanese). Honestly, I should translate it every time, but at this point, I dunno. I just put it in the same bag as dechi - I just leave it there to allow readers to know that it's being used not so much for the meaning.

Inazuma also uses nanodesu too much to really translate it every time - it would look silly (and, I think, not quite in character) to have her keep stating that what she's saying is true all the time. 'Believe it' and all that. But, I'm always happy to change translations to fit whatever people want.

Ah, so if translated strictly, she would come across like the Transformers: Beast Wars version of Megatron, constantly confirming what he just said. Yes.

Which would be silly. Yes. And also occasionally sinister. Yeeesssss. :)

(I'm not one of those people who like their Inazuma sinister, so it's just as well.)

However, that IS literally what they're doing, nodesu. They're basically just tacking unnecessary sounds onto their sentences, ppoi. If it sounds silly/stupid in English, guess what, you'd sound just as ridiculous in Japanese, too, Nuinui. Fufu ya scared, shireee DEEEESU?
