Oh no, there was a conspiracy unfolding... unless it too was over a fishing rod.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the moon bastards (according to some of episodes, it suggested that some of the incidents were caused by the moon's influence, which means the Lunarians had something to do with it) and Koakuma and Reisin II thing. Don't really know too much about their plans but, clearly, someone was trying to get Gensokyo to go insane and it sure as hell worked.
Theoretically speaking, the fish rod thing pretty much put the nail in the coffin to their final plans, if not the beginning part, and then stuff starts going to hell, as one thing basically lead to another, leading to what it is we see. Since someone was trying get Gensokyo to insane, it would make a lot of sense that it began with someone going to ask for a fish rod, as that could have been the first one to go insane, as a result of said conspiracy, and then it spread like a plague, which in turn, because of the beginning event, leads for everyone to blame or assume it was that person.
The funny thing about this image is that we are now getting a movie length (Although one that is split up into 19 parts) final to the series. And shit has taken a major turn for the worse.
