They always do that. You've never seen a Zony or Somy television in anime before? Unless it's paid product placement a la Code Pizza Hut, they almost always obfuscate brand names.
I understand why they do that, but... Pocky -> Bocky? I don't know, maybe it's because P and B sound similar anyway, it's just TOO close. The box art isn't even changed at all. I guess I'm just saying it's a little too simple. Maybe Pookie or something. Meh. Was just a minor complaint/observation.
I think people do that on purpose so that they can use the same product but change it very slightly so that they can legally get away with it. it's just like how in "epic movie" they referenced Narnia, but the movie called it Gnarnia.
so yeah, it may be REALLY close to Pocky, but legally that's fine.
but the PSPs are a COMPLETELY different story... which we will pick up next class period. be sure to read through chapters 3 and 4 for next time, there will be a quiz on it.
This is fanart, isn't it? Well, either way, there's no need to change the name due to trademark concerns; Unlike your Epic Movie example, there's no detriment to the brand in doing this, and even less danger of a suit. Then again, it's so customary in media to change, even when there's no real danger of a suit (Except /maybe/ in America), I guess it'd be something of second nature even to fanartists, after all the durasmell and Somy.
Also, the PSPs don't bear the trademarked name anywhere on there. I doubt they trademarked the look, since there's so many different looks to them..

She spends a lot of her time running around in heavy metal or leather boots and kicking monsters. Makes sense that she'd want to air her feet sometimes.
Looks like the pun has managed to go unnoticed here for 7 years (or at least, no one has commented on it yet). Pocky (ポッキー) -> Bocky (ボッキー) -> bokki (勃起) = erection. And it has a picture of Mara on the box...
