A little opinion about translation."寺子屋" can just simply translate into "elementary school".Although there is a "寺" in it,but there doesn't have religious meaning inside this vocabulary.So I think using the word "temple" is not so suitable.

However, there is a precedent. The TouhouWiki translation of Perfect Memento in Strict Sense also uses the term "temple school" in Keine's entry:
彼女は人里に住み、寺子屋を開き、そこで日々歴史の編纂を行っている。 "[Keine] lives in the human village, where she runs a temple school and records history there every day."
The other wiki'sPerfect Memento translation just uses "school" without indicating academic level.

The temple school, like the lending bookshop Suzunaan, is part of the Edo Period flavor of the human village. Here's the Wikipedia article on the historical ones:
