Tsundere shouldn't be surprised when something like this happens, especially involving a clueless protagonist archetype like Kyon.
Having a tsundere confess is a delicate procedure, and they pretty much have to just come out and say it from the very beginning [and throw in something obvious, like a kiss].
Too long; didn't read: Haruhi went about it wrong, anyway.
Stupid? Right?! Like hell. God or no, he just crushed her. Got her to bring her real emotions out, to to show her real feelings, and then he just shuts her down.
I experienced this once. A classmate of mine always bullied me but in the end, she said that she liked me. I yelled at her, saying that she was "a fucking liar". Her expression was like...stunned.
Well, at that moment, I felt good. Finally, I could scream at the nastiest person in my life.
Once I gone back home, though...realisation set in. Felt kind of guilty. :(
From that moment on, she stopped bullying me until the end of high school. Never seen her again since that. I missed all her nasty pranks she did on me. I was a nobody in school but only this girl paid attention to me.
What will happened if I accepted her? Opportunities, once slipped away, lost forever...
I really just can’t feel sorry for Haruhi she’s such a bitch to people around her that this feels less like tragedy and more like Karma exacting its long overdue vengeance…
Yeah, I can see that being the case. This is rather sad, but I can also see Kyon's side. To me this picture's just sad all around. I sympathize with both sides.

Hm... This is a really interesting comic strip given that it's something that I've thought about a lot with regards to the show (in fact, a lot of animu in general): it's so obvious that the tsundere lead or whatever likes the main male character, yet they never just get it over with and ask the dude out...
It's kind of annoying after a while; it's cute, but unnecessarily fussy.
By implication, it's almost like saying that the pairing will lose its charm if the relationship actually goes somewhere.
That being said, Kyon's response is amusingly assholish, but actually make sense given Haruhi as a character (who I like, but she actually really is kind of bitch, all things considering... Sighs kind of cemented this in).
Well, this isn't a official comic strip written by the actual author. Plus, I think Kyon in the actual novel, manga, and anime would be bright enough to get what's going on.

I'm mainly talking about how it's interesting that someone else is actually thinking about the issue like I am (though, there probably are a lot of people who think about this, but it's nice to see a funny little comic that touches on it); the funniest part about the strip is that the development, in some weird obscure alternate universe where the relationship actually attempts to go somewhere, isn't so implausible.
That said, I don't know about Kyon being THAT sharp in the cannonical universe...
He's all like "Why does she wanna be with me? Why me???"... and it's like...
Yeah, Kyon is actually really keen and intuitive. Very good at reading emotions, gestures, and the like, such as with Nagato. He knows very well about Haruhi's feelings for him, especially with Koizumi there to point it out to him, but is basically in denial.
it's pretty much what i exspected to happen to her. she goes on and on and then finally stops for a moment and says something serious and kyons doesn't believe it. i've met people like that all the time and watched how they hurt others and then finally they stop and realize what they have done. then they go to the others and says sorry only to have them turn to them and say "i don't believe you" usually at that part they are crying and pat them on the back and say they got exactly what they deserve. and also that they have alot to make up for and if they stick to changing for the better maybe one day that person who they have hurt all that time will say i accept you apology

"He should know what's a lie and what's true" <-- LOL! After leading him on for all that time, maybe she should have seen it coming. I guess she's not God after all (except of course to her fans).
Haruhi managing to confess(however poorly) already seems like it'd mean the start of her growing up a little. Shutting her down so harshly seems like it might have the opposite of the effect most people would be hoping for.
I don't know...I don't have much sympathy either. I never really liked tsundere characters really in general because it's annoying how they act like children/ bitches yet they always get the guy and yet somehow the most fans. It just bothers me.
The Yandere, Kuudere, and Yamato Nadeshiko characters need more love :[
Hm. Page 7 (just before "Stupid Kyon") is missing... See post #927631 Created pool for entire series. Is miharu definitely the artist? Cover says "presented by TTT", though I suppose that might be the publisher?

Whoa. I'm almost inclined to write a story based on this.
Kyon did nothing wrong, the stupid bitch got what was coming to her. Tsunderes all should be rejected like this.
edit: downvoting this only serves to prove me right.

I've sort of noticed it for a while now, that you like me.What? Why haven't you confessed to me? Are you shy? Are you afraid? Why should I confess to you?Of course, there's not even a one in a million chance that I'd accept your offer...
But if you don't ask, then there's zero chanceSay, "I like you. Please go out with me."Now look, Haruhi. Do you think that's the right way to ask a person to do something?Hmph. I'm not really asking for anything.
I'm telling you to be honest instead of being so contrary.Oh fine... If you're going to ask with head bowed low, I guess I could listen to your request. And anyway, you don't really mean it either, right?
Maybe you just want to relieve some boredom by seeing me all flustered when I think you're serious?Excuse me, but if you're just killing time, please do it elsewhere.I think it's absolutely positively impossible that I'd accept, but confess just in case!
Just maybe, but probably not, but your confession might miraculously work on me!Eh?
Really? That is, if you ask sincerely.Pl..
Please!Hm? I hope you didn't take me seriously...Your jokes today are a little too nasty. He should know what's a lie and what's true!Stupid KyonPlease ask me to go out with you and...
Tell me that you like me!
