    Samus Portrait

    I've been wanting to work on another Samus fanart piece for a while, and finally found the time to whip something up!

    When I played Metroid and Super Metroid, I always viewed Samus as a hardass. Someone with a no-BS, somewhat military-esque attitude. After the more recent titles in the series, I'm not sure Nintendo had that in mind for the character, but that's how I always viewed her growing up, and how I kinda wanted to portray her in this image.

    Now I need to run through Super Metroid again.

    If Gordon Freeman can run around without a helmet yet survive explosions, headshots, acid burns and radiation thanks to the rest of his body being covered with armor, then so can Samus.

    I actually like this take on Samus. She looks less like a supermodel than in every other picture of her, and more like a warrior.

    I'm sorry, but with that hairstyle I'm reminded of nothing so much as Calhoun from Wreck-it Ralph. Of course, Samus was probably part of the inspiration for that character.

    Maybe the hair color, but I would say that Renegade FemShep was the real inspiration there.
