Depends on where you go. Some of them are rigged, but many of them require a bit of "investment" and a lot of skill to pull off. You can still nab some insanely rare items at a fraction of the cost if you have an eye for which machines are blatant rip-offs and which ones are doable. There's a website dedicated to listing location/machine/object difficulty levels and the average amount you'll be spending on that machine to get the desired good.

Though you can pretty much forget about 1 shotting any UFO catcher, it's usually impossible regardless of your skill level.

Kogasa-san has a hidden talent? I wonder if it would hold up to the crane games here. I swear every one of them has a super hidden switch that says win/lose, and most of them are flipped to lose. I'd believe it if it was true.
