In some instances, should implied_futanari have yuri tagged as well?

Posted under Tags

Just wanted to know for future pics I might upload and share. There's already a whole bunch of posts tagged with both implied_futanari and yuri.

If the characters aren't explicitly shown or known to have a penis, or outright stated to have a penis by the artist, then I... think it works to use both tags? But I'm not sure.

I don't think so, because two other tags with kinda similar use, futanari and futa with female mentioned in wiki, to not use with yuri.

But, let's wait, for more knowledge users to explain about this.

"If it has a dong, then yuri is wrong" (uncredited because I love plagiarism)

While I agree some people get a bit too religious about it, in the end I agree that futa and yuri are different concepts with different "target audiences" so to say. Tagging a post with implied futanari means you have basically already identified that the target audience for the post as being the futa crowd, it doesn't really make sense to follow that up with "except I'm not sure so I'm adding yuri too". These are distinct concepts and it just logically doesn't make much sense to mix them.

Some "I can't really tell" tag would be cool though, I came across a few posts like that recently, where some pretty overly-pedantic reasoning was required to come to a conclusion.

I am the person who gardens these tags the most. I'm admittedly a yuri autist, but I make myself check in on discord when I'm not 100% sure and I'm rarely overridden, so I'm pretty confident that I can accurately explain how these tags are currently used. That said, I'm open to things being changed. In particular, I'd be in favour of having a very strong presumption that any doggystyle or cowgirl position post is futanari and never yuri. But here's the summary of my years of autistic worrying over these tags and how they are used:

There is a spectrum between obvious futa, and obvious yuri. To determine how to tag a post, you need to consider a bunch of different factors to figure out where the post sits on the spectrum. Implied futanari effectively does mean "I can't tell for sure which it is." If you can tell for sure, then tag it as such.

The four possible categories are as follows:
futa_with_female only <-> futa_with_female implied_futanari <-> yuri implied_futanari <-> yuri only

Futa with female only

futa_with_female implied_futanari

  • Mainly used for images with girls in a penetrative sex position where you can't confirm the presence of a penis, but it's clearly intended to be futa
  • Any doggystyle with thrusting motion lines or "plap plap plap" should be tagged like this, and never as yuri.
  • Examples: post #7108403, post #7303037
  • If you would say "sure this could technically be grinding or dry humping or a strap on, but really it's clearly intended as futa," then you should tag it as both futa and implied futa. Use your brain.
  • Used condoms would fall under this
  • Images where speech or text implies that the girl has a dick fall under this

yuri implied_futanari

  • Posts where you genuinely aren't sure whether there is a penis involved or not
  • Generally, stuff like 2 girls in a doggystyle position, but no thrusting or plap plap plap
  • If you think "this really actually could just be dry humping or grinding or just sitting on lap and there actually is a good chance that there is no penis here at all" then tag it with both these tags
  • Examples: post #6947095 post #6886828 post #5248008
  • Mostly, we all know that two girls in a penetrative sex position is probably futa, so this should be used somewhat sparingly
  • However, keep in mind that girls grinding and dry humping each other is a thing that artists like to draw from time to time. Just not as often as futa.

yuri only

  • Where there is zero suggestion of any penetrative sex or possible penis whatsoever

There is no futa_with_female implied_futanari yuri category. Futa and yuri should never be tagged on the same image (obviously, group sex is the exception).

It's preferred to avoid tagging implied futanari only without either tagging futa with female or yuri as well. If you really have no idea, then fine, but it's better to actually make a call on what it is, so that it can be found by the people who are searching for what they like.

Other things to note:

  • Always look at the whole image and context. Use your brain and think about what the image as a whole presents to you.
  • Implied strap-on should be used very sparingly. There needs to be either actual evidence of a strap-on in the image or commentary or parent/child. Another case to use it is if you can't tell where the person penetrating is wearing panties or a strap-on. This is mostly just used by idiots who want to tag their futa as yuri.
  • Artists' commentary or parents/children are never determinative, and TWYS always prevails, but context can help you figure out where the image lies on the spectrum. For instance, "futanari" in the commentary will push the image to the left, but if you're wondering whether something is fellatio or cunnilingus, a tongue emoji in the commentary will push it towards the right. If the image is in a series of images with the same two characters, this can be considered.
  • Cum will always tend to mean "don't tag yuri." Creampies should never ever be tagged yuri. The problem is that sometimes cum and pussy juice and suggestive fluid are drawn indistinguishably, especially in greyscale. Use your brain, look at the image as a whole, and if it's obviously cum, tag it as such and remove yuri.
  • Fellatio vs cunnilingus can be tricky when you can't see the details. Look at the physics of where the face is in relation to the crotch and imagine whether a penis and balls would fit in there or not.
  • Any mention of omegaverse presumptively pushes the image to the left. Omegaverse "yuri" involves dicks 95% of the time. That said, there are some artists who draw omegaverse without dicks. Stuff like post #7312305 is a grey area, but the tongue emoji in the commentary and the relative positioning of head and crotch push it into cunnilinugs territory.

I mostly agree, but I'm actually not a massive fan of yuri implied_futanari in this list. As I explained in my previous reply, once an image is implied futanari, it's already kind of "on the futa spectrum". However, at the same time I'm also not a massive fan of having nothing to describe it, hence maybe some sort of tag, but that may be a bad idea, in which case yuri implied_futanari would be the best remaining option I can think of.

Everything else I think I do agree with.

It might be worth considering nuking implied futanari and just forcing people to pick which one it is, along the lines of the arguments for the BUR Unb referred to. In that case I'd agree that anything "on the futa spectrum" should just get pushed into futa. I wouldn't be 100% against this, tbh.

But there's a lot of posts that are genuinely right on the line, and reasonable people could disagree on what it is. Implied futanari kinda assuages that tension, and I think without it there would be more tag warring.

Also, implied futanari has a searching use case, which is that hardcore yuri people can exclude it from their yuri searches, while less hardcore yuri people can still see it when they search yuri. Conversely, futa people could add ~implied_futanari to their search to broaden the scope of their search, though they probably wouldn't have a free hand to type that much.

You could similarly argue the opposite and say that once an image lacks a penis it is already kind of "off the futa spectrum".
Yuri purists can just blacklist *futa*.

Isn't yuri just lesbians? So futa's are still women but with a few extra parts. Pixiv.net Does have futa yuri tags.

Half of yuri tags here are heavily implied bisexual or miss tagged.

"Yuri" doesn't apply to a character's canonical sexuality.
A character could look at the camera and go "I'm straight and have zero attraction to women" but if someone draws her fucking another girl, then that's yuri. Plain and simple.

Same logic goes for yaoi, too.

Japan uses yuri to refer to girl-on-girl romance rather than the sex act (they use the loanword "lez" for actual lesbian sex). So futa x female or futa x futa could still be yuri if done in a romantic setting, while it wouldn't be used for hardcore mindless fucking. But westerners use yuri in a "no dicks allowed" context.

As for the second part I agree that there's way too many cases of pics getting tagged yuri when there's two girls in bed with each other but looking at the viewer (rather than each other) implying an invitation for a threesome.

Having put all that thought into it, and having seen other people's comments, I just sat down, went through all of implied_futanari yuri, applied the rules I set out above, and shifted several hundred posts over to futa_with_female implied_futanari in an attempt to create more consistency.

Yes, this is also a problem. I fix it when I see obviously wrong tagging, but it's a grey area and there's a ton of it. As a general rule, two girls spreading their legs on the bed for the viewer should be take your pick and not yuri. However, if the girls are touching each other sexually, it can become a lot harder to say objectively which it should be.

But most yuri/yaoi artworks even official arts have look at viewer post #3207364
Some art shows the viewer is female. Also if there is cum it could be fake there are lesbians that like using squirting dildos.

I think they were talking about posts like post #7205976

Also if there is cum it could be fake there are lesbians that like using squirting dildos.

That's way too niche/rare in art though, and that same logic could be applied for posts with cum that are clearly meant to be hetero but "could be futa" just because it's a disembodied penis; If we tag things based on hypothetical "could be" in spite of what's clearly intended, it will be an absolute mess, and i say that as someone who disagrees with Coremack's stance that any penetrative position is to be assumed not yuri

Seeing this post gave me a strong urge to remove the yuri tag from it, upon which I realized that must be how the people who don't want futanari to be tagged with yuri feel. So I think I understand their position better now.

Looking at the viewer is generally considered a faux pas for yuri, there's tons of blogposts and several interviews with people from the industry about it. This post is from Megami Magazine whose target audience doesn't have much overlap with hardcore yuri fans so it's understandable they chose to compose the poster as a threesome invitation which has broader appeal.

The yuri community keeps getting worst. Always changing the goal post.
