Once in a while, would get raw peanuts still in their shells and boil them with a bit of salt. Those things would stop you on your tracks once cooked. Remove the shell, eat them, remove the shell, eat them, remove the shell, etc. Bite the shell in a way that just pops the shell open, then eat what's inside, then repeat.
Like, it's a thousand times better to buy them raw then boil them, compared to the ones in grocery store that's very much roasted to the point where they're dry - understandably to give them a long shelf life, but at the same time they're just so dry and hard that it isn't as good.

I've never gotten the charm of boiled peanuts, here they are all either (dry)roasted, roasted and covered in some cruncy shit or processed into better shit like Saté sauce.
Given that boiled peanuts apparently smell like feet and taste like salt and bland I think I'm happy with just getting some good sauce to put on all my damn dishes that support sauce

I don't think the smell is that bad. Taste wise, it's plain. But then again, plain salted potato chips are great. And salt on meat then BBQed. Flavor isn't that big, but is just enough to enjoy.
That said, peanuts get roasted with garlic over here, which is also nice. For sauce, there's kare kare. Tripe and meat plus veggies cooked in a peanut sauce (or peanut butter). For the salty flavor, it's eaten with bagoong (fish or shrimp paste). Very delicious. It takes a while to cook, but there's also a vegetarian version which takes less time and is just as good... though it's hardly vegetarian since you still use the bagoong.
