A mecha from the Macross series.

The YF-29 Durandal is an advanced prototype of the VF-25 Messiah variable fighter that first appeared in the Macross Frontier: Sayonara No Tsubasa animated movie from 2011. Its next animated appearance is in the Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!! animated movie from 2021.

Features include canards and forward-swept wings with built-in extra boosters. Only one exists and is in use by the S.M.S. company. It is piloted by Saotome Alto, and its color scheme is red and white.

Several years later, Maximilian Jenius piloted a YF-29, which is painted in his signature blue and white color scheme.

In real life it was designed by Kawamori Shouji.
