woven hatching

A shading technique that uses short sets of parallel lines in one direction, then an adjacent group of parallel lines in an almost perpendicular direction to add shade to the art piece. The effect looks woven or like a basket when done well.

This may be used alongside other forms of hatching, such as linear hatching or crosshatching.
