watch fob

The short ribbon, strap, or chain (usually with a decorative pendant on the end) attached to a pocket watch so the wearer can pull it out of their pocket. It gives the watch something to announce itself with: the fob dangles visibly from the waistcoat while the watch itself stays tucked away.
