wasteland
A type of barren, devastated terrain that is inhospitable to life. Whereas polar regions and deserts are naturally barren due to their cold and/or arid climate, wastelands have been rendered uninhabitable by warfare, nuclear fallout, natural disasters, etc. Expect to see rocky terrain and abundant dust clouds, and possibly dead vegetation or the wreckage of ruined civilizations.
Use this tag for landscapes bereft of green plants that aren't merely natural deserts, glaciers, or mountains.
