vignette

Vignette refers exclusively to small diorama-style illustrations and pixel art in pixiv. As a feature, there is a composition that looks like a three-dimensional cutout of a part of the scene.

It's kind of lonely if it's just a character, I'm not good at the background, but I want to draw a little, I enjoy delusionally making it three-dimensional, it's small and fashionable, I love vignettes! There may be various reasons such as ..., but most of the time, the things that the person wants to draw are condensed, so there are many illustrations that are spectacular even with small particles. On the other hand, the sense of putting together a large number of items clearly appears, so it may be a good idea to consider it as the subject of the study.
Pixel art that depicts a vignette is especially called a "dot vignette".

The original meaning is a word derived from the French word vigne (grape), which originally meant the ivy pattern of grapes. After that, it has a meaning as a decorative term, which refers to all "decorative patterns" with arabesque and other plant motifs. Then, meanings such as "illustration (as a decoration of a book)", "portrait with a blurred background", and "small thing" were added, and in turn, a small diorama came to be called a vignette.
