united states marine corps
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) are one of the five branches of the U.S. Military and subordinate to the U.S. Navy.
Established in 1775 as the Continental Marines, they would gain the bulk of their fame during World War II in the Pacific Theater, carrying out a lengthy island-hopping campaign that saw brutal engagements against their Japanese counterparts.
Their typical purpose in the modern era is to carry out expeditionary and amphibious operations, while many will also guard U.S. embassies around the world.
The U.S. Marines are known for their aggression in combat and their distinctive internal culture.
