traffic controller
A traffic controller, also known as a traffic guard, is a person who directs vehicular traffic in the road, often around road construction. They typically wear a high-visibility vest, a hard hat, and carry a traffic baton.
Not to be confused with an aircraft marshaller, a police traffic officer, a school crossing guard, or an ordinary construction worker.
